Easy Article Writing For The Web
By vox vocis
There are thousands of people searching the web to find out how to make money online by writing articles. Many of them end up on a HubPages web page explaining the process in detail and many of them sign up and start writing. But, how much do they write? A high percentage of these newbies in the online article writing world give up because they don’t see dollars, euros, pounds, etc. flooding their bank accounts in no time. And most of them have written less than 30 articles.
The right question about online article writing
If you want to make money online writing articles, the first question that should cross your mind is "Can I really write good-quality articles on a regular basis?" Writing is what will make you a writer, and being a good writer is what will make you money. A dozen of articles won’t help you earn unless you’re very knowledgeable in the area of search engine optimization or you’ve got enough money to pay for expensive link building tools which could generate thousands of backlinks to your articles; this even doesn’t work as it used to before the Google Panda Update because Panda starts off from a human point of view, not a machine’s.
Am I a writer?
I wrote less than 50 articles on HubPages and Seekyt. I’ve looked into my Google Account numerous times to see progress in my ad income. Was I disappointed? Sometimes not, but in most cases yes. Finally, after all the reading and learning I’ve done about SEO, my busy little brain had a stroke of enlightenment: I’m not a real writer – I’m just a wanna-be writer – who wrote less than 100 articles, some of them orphaned articles, skipping from one subject to another, trying to build links to…what exactly?
My articles are not bad, but there aren’t many of them, and I made the common beginner’s mistake by jumping from one topic to another which resulted in implementing a poor link building strategy. Optimizing articles with inbound links isn’t easy when a visitor who follows those potential links ends up on a page with one, two or maximum three content related links. It’s like walking around the city and "ending up in a dead-end." Nobody likes dead-ends. Neither do I.
What I’ve learned about backlinking
I realized that inbound links have real value only if you’ve got something useful to offer on your web page including additional information (usually in form of relevant internal links), something that people find so interesting, awesome or at least helpful enough that they want to share it.
If you post a link to your article on Digg, Stumble Upon, Twitter, FB or anywhere else, what’s the point of doing it if nobody is digging, stumbling, tweeting, “liking” or “bla-bla-bl-ing” that page?
I have noticed that I keep looking at how many followers a writer has and how many articles the writer has published. The number of followers can sometimes be very impressive, but I find the number of published articles even more impressive.
The 30 Days Challenge
I was thinking of joining a 30 Days Challenge on HubPages many times, but gave up sooner than I had the time to develop the idea. Reasons: doubting myself, fear of failure, concentrating on earnings instead of writing… So, that’s it!
I’m starting a 30 Days Challenge on Seekyt on October 1st, 2011. I believe in myself, I don’t care if I’m going to fail, and I don’t care one bit about earnings at this point. All I want is to prove that I can actually write and rank well later, and only then will I start asking myself about earnings.
I wrote two useful articles about how to prepare for the 30 Days Challenge and how to generate new article writing ideas, and included the links in my Seekyt 30 Days Challenge journal post. I take "the more the merrier" as my motto and invite you to join me or at least follow what’s going on over on Seekyt because I believe that taking the challenge will be a great learning experience for everybody.
If you want to participate in the challenge you need to sign up for Seekyt ( → ) and it takes a blink of an eye to do it. And, it takes 30 days to prove yourself that you’re a writer. If you fail, at least you’ll know what you need to improve or work on to become one. So what if you don’t complete the task? It will just prove that you need to try harder, that’s all.
Why Seekyt?
You may be wondering why Seekyt and not HubPages…
Because HuPages is so huge and loud that I can’t even hear my own voice in it, and by the time Seekyt gets that crowded, I’ll be an "old timer" with a bunch of articles behind me and some more on the road. Hopefully, those on the road will be based on an encouraging success story. Don’t get me wrong; I love HubPages and plan to increase my activity here, but for the time being, I believe that Seekyt and I, and you, deserve to take a step further grow to the next level.

Looking forward to the challenge. Still feeling a little intimidated, but I'm going to give it a go anyway.
@randomcreative: Thanks for wishing me luck (everybody needs it, right :)) I'm excited about the challenge and plan to write a bit about the site so, you may want to come by for some more information.
@PWalker281: I understand how you feel, but in my case, excitement finally beat the intimidation. Like Darkside (the original Hub Challenge organizer) said:
"If you’re unable to complete the full 30 within your 30 days – don’t beat yourself up. Sometimes life gets in the way...remember to have fun along the way."
I hadn't heard of Seekyt. I may have to look it up
@mr-burns: Thanks for stopping by. You may really like the site; it's quite different than HubPages - not that advanced - but, I'm sure it's worth the time. Also, it's constantly changing to the better and many important issues (such as, improving the article submitting box and a better photo uploading solution) are being taken care of just now.
Sounds like a great challenge and I may just take that on myself. Good luck on your journey.
@dveldt: If you take the challenge, good luck to you, too :) Don't forget to share your experience!
yeah i might take the challenge.... good luck!
Thanks for sharing info on Seekyt. I will check the site later.
@rai2722: Today is the last day of the Oct, 2011 30 Days Challenge on Seekyt. I'm 7 articles behind, but I'm not giving up. I'll let everybody know whether I succeeded.
Seekyt is great, hope you'll like it :)
I've completed the 30 Days Challenge on Seekyt. It was a learning experience, fun and useful :)
Thanks for the info. I have never heard of Seekyt either. Looking forward to reading some of your hubs on SEO and Google Analytics.
@Steve LePoidevin: Seekyt is one of the youngest article writing and revenue sharing sites, but it has already become a great success. Hope you find the SEO and Analytics hubs useful. Thanks for commenting :)
Seekyt has a new look and it's awesome! The new design made the website more professional, elegant and more user friendly.
There will be a new 30 Days Challenge announcement on Seekyt in a couple of days so here's your chance to spend some more time there and start writing (in case of doubt :)) If you have Seekyt on your "To-Do" list, now is the time to take it off there and start a new writing and money making experience!
Seekyt is growing into a great community of writers. I love it there even though my writing has been lax of late. Your hub is full of great stuff, helpful and interesting. Good luck with your 30 day challenge this year as well.
Thanks, crazybeanrider! I hope this challenge will be even better than the last one :)
Well there you go; I learned something useful in the first hub of yours that I read. Now to find the time to actually sign up on that site. I am such a novice when it comes to linking; I just stumble along not having a clue what I am doing. I guess in my heart I think that I am just a writer and the rest is like keeping score when all I want to do is write. But then the practical side of me says, "but you need income so you don't starve so you better learn about linking." I hate it when there are voices inside my head! Great hub and very useful for me; I can learn a great deal from you. Thank you!
Hi, William! I'm flattered that you think so. Seekyt has been going through some major changes lately, one of them being the employment of alternative earning programs, such as Chitika and possibly Infolinks. AdSense is gone from that site. The owner has announced starting a new website for AdSense only so you may want to wait and see what would suit your needs and interests better. If you decide to sign up there in the future, I could send you a sign up link with a shameless referral :)
Your author score, indvidual hub scores, and traffic prove how good you are in writing, and although it is always useful to know about linking and SEO, sometimes the right keywords and skilful writing are all that you need to succeed. There are such cases. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my hub :)
I appreciate your words; I will check out the site and see if it works for me and if so I'll ask for that shameless referral. :) I think I'm going to enjoy having you as a friend and mentor. Thank you!
Me, too :) Until soon...
Thank you for your information. I have been on Seekyt now for about 5 days and loving it so far. You have also commented on a few questions I have asked and thank you for that. I recommend anyone out there to give this site a try. It is a very friendly community and they are very helpful in your dreams of success.
@hurdlesgreetings: Thank you for stopping by! I'm glad you like Seekyt. You can also check TopicSpotter, a brand new site, which is actually Seekyt's sister website. Hope you'll enjoy the community!
